post & beam

BUILT 1952

Located in the Thousand Oaks Heights neighborhood of the Berkeley Hills, this sophisticated home came to us untouched from its original owners that purchased it new in 1952. Perched on a hillside cul-de-sac, this view home (SF and the Golden Gate) preserves its original “post and beam” character with modern clean lines and sensible use of space. Now updated with current conveniences and for today’s lifestyle, this handsome home has been restored and enhanced in true Bee Renovated style.

To begin, double glass doors leading to a new expansive deck have been added off the living room to take full advantage of its priceless views and expand the living and entertaining space.

The spacious eat-in kitchen has been reconfigured and features a professional 6 burner stove, stone counters, prep sink and custom Ann Sacks tile. The living room and formal dining room are now outfitted with custom lighting, a soft neutral palate and updated gorgeous fireplace with striking black walnut mantle. Beautiful hardwood floors that span the entire home have been refinished and stained in our signature “tobacco“ finish.

Sitting on its own level in the home, the Master Bedroom has a new Master Bath that creates a true “suite” featuring it’s own private view deck and separate “breakfast patio” that leads to the beautiful back yard.

The original owner was an avid gardener and over the years created spectacular spaces featuring California natives that require low water and low maintenance. This well established garden is now complemented with special entertaining areas and room for play.

As always, Bee Renovated is committed to green restoration and living. A new high-efficiency furnace and new thermal windows were installed. We applied only low VOC paints and restored, reused or recycled all materials used during the restoration.

This impressive home was meticulously completed and features some of Bee Renovated’s finest standards including handsome fittings, excellent craftsmanship and comfortable, yet chic style.
