Views! Architecture! Location! Words to describe this custom built mid-century home c.1965 and on the market for the first time in its history. Bee Renovated was fortunate to acquire this home from the estate and receive it in near original condition. This project is a response to a welcome and familiar challenge: How can we design a modern home within a historic shell? The answer was a merger of simplification and expansion. This formerly modest home is now 2800 sq. ft. + and features 5 bedrooms, 3 baths including a new lower level that can serve as extra living space, in-law, or a legal additional dwelling unit.

Level winding paths highlight the stunning architecture and lead to the custom original front door. The formal entry features bespoke architectural using vintage fretwork panels. New white oak floors installed throughout the home create a warm and welcome introduction to the interior.

The once tiny and isolated kitchen has now been completely reimagined and expanded to create an open living space with family room to relax and gather. Anchored by a generous Carrera marble island, this space is large enough for friendly gatherings or intimate family dinners. Details include a custom-built banquette, walls of beautiful matte glazed tile, all new professional stainless JennAir appliances, quartz counters, solid wood cabinetry and direct connection to the expansive entertaining deck… and views of the San Francisco Bay.

The formal living and dining room feature unbelievable panoramic views… 3 bridges to be exact! New walls of glass open to create a true indoor outdoor connection to the generous deck overlooking the large property and these breathtaking vistas. An extraordinary original feature, re-sawn redwood walls, have been preserved and updated in a dark and sexy “charred” finish. The original fireplace anchors the space with a full wall-to-wall cantilevered hearth of concrete and straight-grain Fir.

The Master bedroom has been expanded to include a full wall of glass, access to a private deck with Bay views, original re- sawn redwood feature wall and a huge 16 foot walk thru closet with tailor made built-ins. The master bath features the original (and painstakingly restored) terrazzo floors and grand shower. The 4 additional bedrooms are light and bright with 3 on one level, including 2 with direct access to outdoor spaces.

This renovation added a legal accessory dwelling unit (ADU) that now offers options to enjoy this new level as part of the main house or separate as a legal rental. This level includes a separate entrance, generous living area with access to patios and yard, a kitchen that can also serve as an entertaining wet bar, large bedroom with Bay views and a generous bath with laundry hook ups.
