ETCHEVERRY

HOUSE

BUILT 1953

Starting with great architecture makes our job easy… it really becomes about preservation, restoration and insuring the home is current and accommodates today’s lifestyle. Custom built in 1953, this home comes to us from the family that originally commissioned its inception and enjoyed many years here until we had the pleasure of acquiring it.

Located on the Kensington/Berkeley border this mid century home is one of our largest projects to date. With over 3000 square feet it features 4 bedrooms and 2½ baths on the main level and an additional bedroom and 1 and ½ bath on the second level with separate kitchen, laundry, and large living space. This second level can be incorporated into the main home for the perfect family room/media room/office or can be separated for legal rental, in-law, or nanny quarters.

Classic mid century features include clearstory widows, original tongue and grove ceilings that span seamlessly from interior to exterior, floor to ceiling walls of glass that frame the Golden Gate and Bay views, indoor/outdoor living with direct access to patios, decks and yards, and a dramatic 2 story fireplace with cantilevered hearth.

The once isolated kitchen is now opened up to the great room to share the amazing views and better connect living spaces. This new eat-in kitchen has been completely outfitted with professional stainless appliances, new hardwood cabinetry, stone counters and features an expansive peninsula perfect for entertaining and prep.

A powder room has been added off the kitchen and all bathrooms have been completely remodeled utilizing custom tile, all new fixtures, stone flooring and handsome hardware. All hardwood floors have been refinished and new hardwood floors have been added to achieve a seamless transition between all living spaces. The home has been bathed in our updated Bee Renovated paint palette of soft contemporary hues and outfitted with carefully selected lighting to complement the classic modern design.

In addition, the home has a complete seismic upgrade, new energy efficient windows, updated electric and plumbing and carefully designed landscaping to making this home not only beautiful but also strong and secure.
