ALBANY

wallmann

house

BUILT 1920

Acquiring this home from the Wallmann family was our dream scenario. Hearing of its history accompanied with loads of family photographs helped us to connect with the home and see first hand the original details of this classic Albany Craftsman. With great sensitivity we have restored this fantastic home while carefully reinventing its floorplan to create open, light and bright spaces so desired by today’s modern homeowner.

Our renovation began with removing the wall between the isolated kitchen to the formal dining room to create a modern “great room“ concept. This adjustment to the floor plan required dismantling some original details such as wainscoting, plate rails and framed ceiling detail all of which have been restored for a seamless transition. This room now has original charm partnered with a completely modern space plan. The new kitchen now features generous work areas, a spacious peninsula large enough for informal dining, stainless pro appliances, stone counters, new solid wood cabinetry, secondary prep sink and butler pantry with window.

From the formal entry, the beautiful staircase and vestibule are now open and connected to the large living room. Details include coved ceilings, Stanford quarry stone fireplace and bay windows that stream natural light on the beautiful oak floors that have been refinished throughout utilizing our signature “wet process.”

The main level also features a new powder room and laundry as well as a second Primary Suite with en suite bath, walk-in closet and private access to the large deck and fantastic yard. This room can also function nicely as a spacious and bright family room.

Upstairs, the Primary Bedroom and one of the three bedrooms included original sleeping porches that have now been integrated into these rooms. These bedrooms are now large enough to accommodate not only sleeping quarters but potential sitting area, extra bed or office space. These rooms feature the original expanse of windows that frame the Berkeley Hills view. The bath on this level has been completely replaced and now features custom tile work, double vanity and large reeded glass window providing ample natural light.

The large entertaining deck is new and overlooks the fantastic yard that surrounds the fully fenced property. A separate 1 car garage, plenty of grass and raised garden bed expand the living space and utilizes every area of this plot.

This rare 4 bedroom 2000+ square foot home will be delivered with new energy efficient heater, on demand water heater, new windows and new electric system just to name a few.

Bee Renovated is honored to have had the opportunity and trust of the Wallmann family to restore this handsome home and make ready it for many more generations to come.
