YALE house

BUILT 1948

This 4 bedroom 3 bath home had definitely seen better days but had all the elements we look for in our projects; great views, excellent location, lots of space to re-envision and of course loads of potential. Built in 1948, this home was a series of small spaces, dead ends and odd design choices. With some strategic floor plan changes and thoughtful design additions this home now has what it takes to be a Bee Renovated property; a new open floor plan, bright and light spaces, seamless indoor/outdoor flow and plenty of glass that frames fantastic Bay views.

The entry of the home, formally a narrow and dark hallway, is now dramatic with a skylight, full light glass door and site line to a striking stairwell gallery wall. The former owner, an avid orchid grower, had constructed an impressive space to cultivate her plants. This beautiful outdoor atrium has been transformed into a secondary sheltered living/dining space that now includes built in Mid Century bench seating rescued from the Tiburon home of Richard Chamberlain.

The once small and completely isolated kitchen is now expanded and includes a giant peninsula perfect for entertaining, all new professional appliances including a pro 6 burner range, quartz counters, all new wood cabinetry, and huge views of the Golden Gate Bridge and Bay.

A wall that once divided the dining room and living room was removed to create an open and inviting “Grand Space” with a full wall of glass framing gorgeous Golden Gate and Bay views. The original fireplace has been simplified and is now been bathed in white to give it a fresher modern presence.

A small odd shaped bedroom has been transformed into a spacious walk in closet and beautiful Master Bath with double vanity and custom oversized shower now creating a true Primary Suite.

The bright and airy family room features a wall of windows and glass door to a private yard with new landscaping and rolling grass for play. The 4th bedroom also has access to the yard through its own separate entrance. A new and spacious laundry room has been added to the home and is outfitted with beautiful cabinetry and quartz countertops.

New oak floors have been added and seamlessly blended into the original wood floors that are now stained using our signature “wet” method and custom mixed stain. And finally, the home has been bathed, both inside and out, using our custom color palette of Bee Renovated hues.
